چکیده

Course and distribution information on arteries in the rat rhinencephalon was not found in the literature. Such data are useful for designing experiments and interpreting findings, tracing nerve fibers on or to intracerebral vessels, and in considering routes for diffusion or transport of intracerebral injected agents. Adult rats were perfused with silicone rubber and many brains were cleared in glycerin. The major arteries to the olfactory bulb stem from the anterior cerebral artery. A middle cerebral arterial ramus could provide a collateral source. The septum receives supply exclusively from the anterior cerebral artery. A rostra1 lesion in the medial septum would most likely involve arteries supplying more caudal structures including hippocampal afferent and efferent fibers. No anastomoses between septal arteries or with middle or posterior cerebral arterial rami were observed. The cingulate cortex receives anterior cerebral arterial branches with the middle cerebral artery being a collateral source. The amygdala and overlying cortex receive branches of the internal carotid and middle cerebral arteries. Transverse arteries in the hippocampal fissure stem from the longitudinal hippocampal artery, a branch of the posterior cerebral artery, to nourish the hippocampus and portions of the fascia dentata. Other branches supply the remainder of the fascia dentata, entorhinal and subicular structures, and certain vessels anastomose with middle cerebral arterial rami. A transverse artery occlusion would probably result in a lesion : No intracerebral arterial anastomoses were observed. Vascular compensation may occur following occlusion of the longitudinal artery via supply from the middle cerebral artery.

Improving the Izhikevich Model Based on Rat Basolateral Amygdala and Hippocampus Neurons, and Recognizing Their Possible Firing Patterns

Introduction: Identifying the potential firing patterns following different brain regions under normal and abnormal conditions increases our understanding of events at the level of neural interactions in the brain. Furthermore, it is important to be capable of modeling the potential neural activities to build precise artificial neural networks. The Izhikevich model is one of the simplest biolog...

The effect of glutaminergic system on cardiovascular regulation of rat

Introduction: The bed nucleus stria terminalis (BST) is a part of the limbic system, which plays a role in regulation of heart beat and blood circulation. It was recently shown that microinjection of L-glutamate in the BST elicits cardiovascular depressive, but the role of glutamate receptor subtypes has not been investigated yet. In this study, the role of glutamate receptor subgroups in regul...

The Hitchhiker’s guide to the rhinencephalon Um guia prático sobre a anatomia do rinencéfalo

The interest of the medical community in the rhinencephalon has grown exponentially in the past decades. Much of this popularity stems from the finding of severe hyposmia both in Parkinson’s disease1 and Alzheimer’s disease2, two of the most prevalent neurodegenerative conditions, as well as in schizophrenia3 and many other neurological and psychiatric conditions. Although now largely acknowled...

Synthesis of Novel 4-[1-(4-fluorobenzyl)-5-imidazolyl] Dihydropyridines and Studying their Effects on Rat Blood Pressure

Objective(s) Calcium-channel blockers have an important role in the treatment of several cardiovascular disorders. Derivatives of 1, 4-dihydropyridine are one of the most potent calcium antagonists. In this study four novel ', 4-dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers were synthesized and their hypotensive properties were investigated in male rats. Materials and Methods Four 1, 4-dihydropyr...

Developments in Electroencephalography: The Basal and Temporal Regions *

In recent years developments in the fields of anatomy, physiology, and electrophysiology (of which electroencephalography is a part) have directed interest to the "down-under" and mesial parts of the cerebral hemispheres. In these regions, and surrounding the corpus callosum, lies that part of the brain called the limbic lobe by Broca. It was renamed the rhinencephalon by Turner because of its ...
